With the ongoing dispute between the Trump administration and Harvard – and Commencement coming up this Thursday – a recent New York Times opinion piece titled “Harvard Derangement Syndrome” by Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker has sparked wide discussion across the alumni community.
We are sharing an invitation to a virtual fireside chat with Professor Pinker this Friday, May 30th, from 4:30–5:30 PM ET / 10:30–11:30 PM CET. He will speak about his essay, the external criticisms facing Harvard, and what can be done to support academic freedom at the University.
The event is organized by the 1636 Forum, which describes itself as “a community of 20,000+ Harvard alumni and students committed to academic excellence, academic freedom, and good governance.”
